We take 2 walking field trips each year. In the fall, we go out looking for signs of fall. In the spring we do the same for signs of spring. Near by there is... a paved pathway, a park, a dirt road with horses and cows, and lots of places for bugs.
We also take one traveling field trip each spring to J & J's Nursery and talking about seeds/plants and what makes them grow.
